Slovenia: Celje *Imam Te Rada*

Celje
I lived in Celje a few weeks shy of a year. While there I grew spiritually everyday. I overcame physical and emotional battles. I made life long friends- Jaims being one of those friends. I learned to see the world through a more realistic lens without loosing hope in humanity. I gained understanding of love and tolerance. And I learned what it means to truly care for someone as the people of this town cared for me. Even two years after leaving an older gentleman recognized Jaims and I on the street and acted as though we had only been gone a day or two. Celje, I love you.

*Although I have thousands of photos from when I lived in Celje- while visiting we focused on reconnecting and enjoying every moment that we put down the cameras for a while, hence the lack of pictures, but I promise to one day compile my favorites*

Slovenia: Memories of Maribor

Maribor
I lived in Maribor for a few months, which happened to be some of the hardest months of my mission. I didn't know the language well and struggled to understand my purpose. Matters were only made worse as the weather got colder and the days shorter. Although it was a time of internal despair, it was in Maribor that I learned most about myself. I realized what kind of missionary and person I wanted to be. I found continual strength in my Savior and discovered new skills of my own.
Taking my parents to Maribor was special for me as they were able to see and better appreciate that time in my life. I especially loved that they were able to meet so many people who have left such life changing marks on my life.

I Feel sLOVEnia: Lake Bled and Vintgar

Lidija's amazing mother hosted us in Ljubljana where we enjoyed visiting Lake Bled, Vintgar and Prešeren.
*before we swam to the church in the middle of the lake*
*Our destination!*
*after a freezing swim in the rain*

*they enjoyed the castle with Lidija as we froze in the water*
*Vintgar*
*I miss Slovene water- best drinking water on the earth.*
*it is said that your marriage will be long and happy if you take your bride to the church in the middle of Lake Bled and carry her up the steps. Since Jaims and I swam to the church I figure our friendship will last forever. My husband has yet to carry me up the steps though...
